Hundreds of Pigs Escape and Run Wild Down Branson Highway After Semi Truck Overturns

A semi-truck loaded with pigs overturned on a Branson-area highway Monday, spilling its cargo and sending hundreds of squealing pigs running loose down the road in total chaos.

Dramatic video footage shows dozens of pigs sprinting down the pavement, dodging vehicles, and scattering in every direction after the truck flipped on its side. Motorists pulled over in disbelief as the pink herd stampeded past them, some pigs still wearing ear tags from the farm.

“I was driving when the whole road suddenly filled with pigs,” said one witness. “They were running everywhere — some sprinting full speed, others just wandering around like they owned the highway. It was unbelievable.”

The truck driver was not seriously injured, but the pigs took full advantage of their freedom. Several were seen running into nearby yards and fields, while others attempted to cross into oncoming traffic. Highway patrol and local farmers spent hours rounding up the escaped animals, with some proving very difficult to catch.

The accident caused major traffic delays as crews worked to clear the highway and secure the remaining pigs. Some locals even started posting “Lost Pig” signs and offering to adopt the runaways.

Authorities say most of the pigs have now been recovered, but a few are still on the loose in the area. Drivers are being asked to watch for stray pigs on the roads.

The trucking company has not yet released a statement on the incident.

Cleanup efforts are underway, and the highway has since reopened to traffic.

The situation remains ongoing as crews continue searching for any remaining escaped pigs.
