Heavily armed officers in tactical gear were spotted at local pharmacies this week, hauling away boxes of Tylenol after city officials announced a sudden crackdown on the over the counter medication.
The move comes in the wake of President Trump’s recent comments suggesting a possible link between acetaminophen and autism. Branson authorities said the action was taken “out of an abundance of caution” while federal health agencies review the claims.
Shoppers were stunned to see entire aisles cleared. “I thought it was some kind of drug bust, but then I saw they were bagging up Tylenol,” one resident said. “It feels unreal.”
Medical groups continue to stress that there is no conclusive proof connecting Tylenol use to autism, but Branson’s emergency order bans its sale and possession within city limits until further notice.
For now, families in the area are left searching for alternative pain relievers, as the city’s crackdown shows no sign of letting up.
