Walmart has rolled out a controversial new policy in its Branson Supercenter: massive yellow speed bumps installed every few feet down every single aisle.
Shoppers say the change has turned a normal grocery run into an obstacle course. Carts are bouncing wildly, items are flying off shelves, and elderly customers on mobility scooters are literally catching air as they try to navigate the store.
One woman captured the chaos on her phone as she rode her Rascal scooter over one of the oversized bumps. “I almost flew out of my seat,” she said. “I’ve been shopping here for 20 years and I’ve never seen anything like this.”
Multiple shoppers described the experience as frustrating and dangerous. “My cart almost tipped over twice,” said one man pushing a full load. “Why on earth would they put speed bumps inside a store? It makes no sense.”
Walmart has posted signs throughout the store reading “Please Slow Down – Corporate Policy,” but many customers say the bumps are so large they’re nearly impossible to avoid. Some are joking that the company is trying to force everyone to shop in slow motion.
The giant speed bumps stretch wall-to-wall across the aisles, making it difficult for anyone with a full cart — or a mobility scooter — to move at a normal pace. Witnesses say the bumps are causing long delays, spilled groceries, and plenty of angry customers.
Local residents are already calling it one of the most ridiculous changes they’ve seen at Walmart. “First they take away the good cashiers, now this,” one shopper complained. “Are they trying to make us stop shopping here?”
Walmart has not released an official statement explaining the sudden installation of the speed bumps, but many are speculating it’s an attempt to reduce running in the aisles or cut down on “fast shopping.”

For now, the speed bumps remain in place, turning what used to be a quick errand into a bumpy adventure for Branson shoppers. If you’re heading to the store, you might want to leave the full cart for later — or bring a helmet.
