Branson Man Holds Full Funeral Inside Walmart Aisle So He Could Get “Everyday Low Prices” in the Afterlife

A local man’s final wish was granted in one of the most unusual ways possible when his family held his entire funeral service right in the middle of a Walmart Supercenter aisle.

According to family members, 68-year-old Roger Jenkins was very clear about what he wanted for his send-off. For years he told relatives that when his time came, he wanted his funeral held at Walmart so he could take advantage of “everyday low prices” even in the afterlife.

On Wednesday, Jenkins’ family honored that request. They arranged for his open casket to be placed in the main aisle near the household goods section. Mourners gathered around the casket while regular shoppers pushed carts past them, some pausing to pay their respects while others continued shopping.

Walmart employees in blue vests stood nearby, some appearing unsure how to handle the situation but ultimately allowing the service to continue. Store management reportedly gave permission after the family explained it was the deceased’s longtime wish.

Signs were placed around the casket reading “Rollback Prices on Eternity” and “Everyday Low Prices in the Afterlife,” adding a touch of dark humor to the somber occasion.

One family member told reporters, “Roger always said Walmart was his favorite place on Earth. He figured if he was going to spend eternity somewhere, it might as well be where he could get the best deals.”

Shoppers had mixed reactions. Some joined the service for a few minutes, while others simply walked around the casket on their way to the checkout.

“I’ve seen a lot of things in Walmart, but this is a first,” said one longtime customer who witnessed the funeral.

The service included a short eulogy, prayers, and a few hymns sung right there in the aisle. Afterward, the family thanked Walmart staff for accommodating the unusual request.

Jenkins is survived by his wife, two children, and several grandchildren. He will be laid to rest at a local cemetery following the Walmart service.

This is believed to be one of the first funerals ever held inside a Walmart in the Branson area, though store employees say they’ve seen plenty of strange things over the years.

The family says Roger would have loved seeing the turnout — and the prices — on his big day.
