Crowds gathered on Table Rock Lake this weekend as the Ozarks officially became home to the world’s first floating Target superstore. The massive red structure, built to full scale size and anchored just off the Branson shoreline, has already become the talk of the town.
Instead of a traditional parking lot, boats lined up by the dozens along custom built docks, with shoppers stepping straight off pontoons and jet skis into the sprawling two story store. Inside, customers found everything from groceries and electronics to the in store Starbucks, all with panoramic views of the water.
Local officials called the floating retail giant “a new landmark attraction,” while social media lit up with pictures of the unusual sight. Some praised the convenience for boaters, while others questioned the logistics of stocking such a massive store on the water.
Either way, the floating Target has quickly cemented itself as one of the most talked about openings in Branson history.
